Here come the Men in Black, galaxy defenders…
Production is now underway for Sony’s upcoming reboot and to prove it, we’ve got some new set pics of a sharp-suited Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, the Thor: Ragnarok duo who’ve clearly traded the MCU for the MIB. At least, for the time being.
Seen down below, we get a glimpse at both stars on set as well as in action thanks to a shot of the camera monitors (which, technically, counts as our first look at them in the film). And though nothing here is particularly revealing, we imagine it’ll just be a matter of time now before some official promo material arrives. After all, the movie’s less than a year away from release, so some hi-res photos should be coming soon. Until then, however, you can feast your eyes on what we’ve got in the gallery below (which also includes those set pics that surfaced the other week).
Headed up by director F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious), we know that this new Men in Black features a script from Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the duo best known for their work on Iron Man. Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, Emma Thompson and Rafe Spall of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are among the impressive ensemble cast, and we understand that the plan here is to relaunch the franchise on a global scale, with serious star power to boot.
Most of the other details are being kept locked away in the Sony vaults for now, but we imagine the reboot will contain a familiar blend of comedy and end-of-the-world action. Whether it can wash the poor taste of the last outing in the franchise from our mouths remains to be seen, but Hemsworth and Thompson are two hugely likable actors and Gray is no stranger to delivering high octane thrills and exhilarating action.
With that in mind, we’re hopeful that Men in Black will be able to steer things back on course when it shoots its way into theaters on May 14th, 2019.
