Sadly, today is closing day for San Diego Comic-Con 2018, but given the barrage of content dolled out this week at the “largest convention of its kind in the world,” you’re probably still coming down from the contact high, and will be for some time. What with Shazam!, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Aquaman all dropping their first trailer, not to mention Wonder Woman 1984 and Venom both providing new footage, Hall H really did have something for everyone.
Unfortunately, the latter two have yet to make their way online, but thankfully, a Twitter account associated with the forthcoming symbiote feature has disclosed when, exactly, we can expect the new Venom trailer to be made available for public consumption. And it’s a lot sooner than you might think.
In response to a Sony Pictures Tweet, in which they celebrated the cantankerous Klyntar’s SDCC panel by releasing a never before seen image of the sinister symbiote – taken from said new trailer, mind you – user @EddiesClubhouse decreed, “Until next week,” hence the allusion to the new preview arriving next week.
Granted, this isn’t confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth, but @EddiesClubhouse is a verified account and appears to be an official secondary account in which Eddie Brock himself responds to fan Tweets. Nonetheless, the communiqué is the only source we’ve got right now, and we’ll just have to take the character’s word for it.
Based on the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes comic book series – in which five, count ‘em five, symbiotes battle our titular antihero, thereby lending credence to director Ruben Fleischer’s “there may or may not be other villains” remark – look for Venom, starring Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson, to invade your local multiplex on October 5th.
