Jodie Whittaker Dazzles In First Full Doctor Who Season 11 Trailer

If we're to be honest, Sunday's Doctor Who teaser trailer was slightly underwhelming. At less than a minute in length, it didn't show anything from the upcoming season itself and only gave us a very brief glimpse of Jodie Whittaker in the title role right near the end. It was clever and amusing, and even had a Matt Smith easter egg (!), but fans were left craving something a bit meatier and thankfully, they've now got just that.

As expected, the BBC dropped a new preview earlier today during their Doctor Who panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and we must say, it’s absolutely terrific. For one, we get a much – much! – better look at Jodie’s new incarnation of the titular Time Lord and the actress is simply dazzling here (even if this trailer is still a bit on the short side). Witty, funny and charming from the off, it’s clear that she’s making the iconic role her own and we’re already sold on Number Thirteen.

Elsewhere, we also get to see more of companions Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill as Graham, Ryan and Yasmin, respectively, as well as some of the wild and wacky adventures that the gang will be embarking on. As promised in the past, this season seems a lot more family-geared than previous runs but that doesn’t mean it looks any less fun.

Of course, every new season of Who is a cause for celebration, but this one is especially important as, like we said above, it’ll see the debut of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, whose casting whipped up a storm last July. After 50 years of male leads, Whittaker is the first actress to take on the role of the Time Lord and it’s clear from the footage here that they made the right choice.

Said to be “hopeful and fizzing with wonder,” this year’s historic ten-episode installment of Doctor Who is headed for an October premiere on the BBC. Will you be tuning in when it debuts? Let us know by dropping a comment down below.
