Star Wars: The Last Jedi Comic Proves That Rey Never Actually ‘Beat’ Luke

Screen Rant has uncovered a page from Star Wars: The Last Jedi's comic that seemingly confirms Rey never actually 'beat' Luke on Ahch-To.

There has been some confusion coiling under the Star Wars fanbase of late – and we’re not referring to the allegations that Lucasfilm has pumped the brakes on all future standalone movies until further notice. Allegations which the company outright denied, for the record.

Instead, we draw your attention to The Last Jedi and, specifically, the duel involving Luke Skywalker and a visibly distressed Rey. Disgruntled by her teacher’s stubborn attitude, here we see Daisy Ridley’s would-be Jedi fast approaching the end of her tether. And so, she lashes out at Mark Hamill’s hermit, demanding the truth about his self-imposed exile and why she feels a strange, unnatural draw towards the dark side of the Force.

Set against a darkened sky illuminated only by sheets of lightning, it’s a pretty incredible scene, but there are those fans who balked at the idea that Rey, a Jakku scavenger with little-to-no experience in the Force, would be able to best Luke in close-quarters combat.

Well, that simply isn’t true; as reported by Screen Rant, Marvel’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi comic proves that Rey never actually ‘beat’ the jaded Skywalker at all, he merely slipped.

That ought to settle that debate, right? The comic book adaptation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is well worth your time as it recounts many of the sequel’s biggest moments from a different perspective. It also features art by Michael Walsh and Mike Spencer, and is best described as so:

The Resistance has found Luke Skywalker! But the First Order is hot on their tail…and they are out for blood. Join writer Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and artist Michael Walsh (Star Wars Annual, Hawkeye and Vision) as they take on the adventures of Force prodigy Rey, ace pilot Poe Dameron, and ex-First Order recruit Finn from the hit blockbuster Star Wars: The Last Jedi – featuring never-before-seen scenes of your favorite characters!
