It looks as if Marvel Studios is about to go three for three.
Even after the back-to-back triumphs of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther and Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War, the movie powerhouse still has another ace in the hole, and it comes in the form of Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The miniature sequel finds itself on the lower end of Marvel’s cinematic universe when it comes to scale and scope and frankly, that’s okay, as Kevin Feige recently hailed Ant-Man and the Wasp as a “breath of fresh air” following the doom and gloom of Infinity War. And that’s plain to see up in the clip above, which shows Paul Rudd’s Giant-Man involved in a chase scene as he gets some help from both the Wasp and Luis. It’s a fun, fast-paced slice of action from the film and one that certainly has us eager to see more.
As the 20th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp is a special movie in its own right, and though Peyton Reed has spent much of the sequel’s campaign describing it as a standalone adventure, it’ll likely still have massive ramifications for Avengers 4 and indeed the MCU’s future.
What those will be remain unknown – though we have caught wind of the post-credits scene already – but if you indeed suffered from Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne withdrawal during, or far more likely, after Infinity War, your long journey is almost at an end now. And judging by the first reviews, Marvel’s hit it out of the park once again with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Not that that comes as much of a surprise, mind you.
