Shane Black’s long overdue reboot of The Predator has been described as many things – an “utterly fresh” revival of the sci-fi franchise, for instance, while the film seemingly adds a “wicked sense of humor” to the CG carnage.

It’s no wonder the horror/thriller is among some of the most-anticipated pics of fall 2018 – ditto for VenomThe Nun and Halloween, which are all poised to drop in and around the same window – and now that we’re quickly approaching its release, the marketing campaign is beginning to kick into high gear.

Set in suburbia and featuring an all-star cast, The Predator marks the first entry into this most beloved franchise in almost eight years, so it’s fair to say that Black’s long-in-development reimagining has been shackled with great expectation. But judging by this incredible new trailer, at least, we’re quietly confident that Shane Black and his team – scribe Fred Dekker included – can deliver the goods. And some zippy one-liners to boot.

Among the cast list for this one are Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Black Panther‘s Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen of Game of Thrones fame and Yvonne Strahovski. Meanwhile, Jake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s character from Predator 2, proving Shane Black was still able to sprinkle some nostalgia over his R-rated reboot.

And make no mistake, with its deft balance of practical and visual effects, not to mention the amount of craft that’s gone into each Predator design, this is an authentic reboot/sequel to the original cult classic, one that we’ve been waiting for for a very, very long time – eighth years, in fact.

Can it deliver the goods and silence the naysayers, though? Who knows, but we imagine we’ll be able to get a better read on Black’s bold reboot of The Predator as it inches closer to its September 14th release.
