What Peter W. might lack in superpowers he certainly makes up for in sheer courage.
Coming out of Deadpool 2‘s final trailer, Rob Delaney’s decidedly human side-kick – an Average Joe amongst Average Joes – emerged as something of an early fan-favorite, not least because his dedicated Twitter feed has brought us a little bit closer to the would-be superhero ensemble known as the X-Force.
It’s a team that also includes Domino (Zazie Beetz), Bedlam (Terry Crews), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) and Zeitgeist, the acidic-spewing anti-hero to be played by Bill Skarsgard of It. On paper, there’s not much room for a power-less human like Peter, but that certainly doesn’t stop him from applying for the X-Force nonetheless – an application that the Merc With a Mouth quickly accepts, resulting in the moment when Delaney’s supporting player is hurled out of a cargo plane alongside the rest of the group in order to intercept a precious convoy.
Indeed, it’s that scene that anchors this newly-released TV spot for Deadpool 2, which also gives Peter a few other moments in the spotlight, proving that the character is undoubtedly set to be a highlight of the upcoming sequel. We just hope he makes it through alive, so that we can see more of him in the already announced X-Force spinoff.
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, though, as first off, we need to see futuristic mercenary Cable (Josh Brolin) journey into the past in search of Russell (Julian Dennison), who’s supposedly responsible for causing some future atrocity in the X-Men timeline. Cue the Merc With a Mouth, as Wade Wilson soon takes it upon himself to form his own super-duper fucking group: the X-Force.
Deadpool 2 shoots for theaters on May 18th, and when it does, moviegoers will be treated to an extra special cameo from none other than [REDACTED]. Not to mention some of the wildest post-credit scenes ever (one of which actually had to be cut for being too racy).
