Avengers: Infinity War Notches Record $85 Million At Monday Box Office

The numbers have been crunched and the tickets counted, revealing Avengers: Infinity War notched a record $85 million at the Monday box office.

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War added a staggering $85 million at the Monday box office, taking its overall tally north of $700 million after just six days of release.

Of that impressive haul, the Marvel epic pulled in an estimated $25.2M at the domestic box office ($60.3M international), easily surpassing Furious 7‘s record Monday ($14M) back in 2015. It’s the best Monday for an April release, too, though Infinity War has placed ninth in the overall Monday charts.

Back in February, Black Panther sunk its teeth into the U.S. box office with $40.1M on Presidents’ Day to seize the all-time Monday record – The Force Awakens and Rogue One hold second and third place with $40.1M and $32M, respectively.

Circling back to Infinity War, though, and the MCU blockbuster is now simmering at $725.5M worldwide, meaning that billion-dollar milestone is well within reach – hell, we’d be surprised if Avengers 3 didn’t crack into Hollywood’s billion-dollar club before its second weekend is out.

For the sake of perspective, at three-quarters-of-a-billion dollars Avengers: Infinity War has already overtaken a slew of its fellow MCU titles at the global box office, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714M), Doctor Strange ($678M), and Thor: The Dark World ($645M).

Suffice it to say, if the Marvel Cinematic Universe is at risk of franchise fatigue, it doesn’t show, and it’s all but certain that the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp and next year’s Captain Marvel will receive a box office boon thanks to the swell of interest in Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on Avengers: Infinity War and its box office performance over the next few weeks, so be sure to stay tuned!
