“Maybe you just need someone watching your back – like a partner?”
With all the excitement currently swirling around Avengers: Infinity War, you’d be forgiven for losing track of Marvel’s third and final 2018 release: Ant-Man and the Wasp.
And though it may not absolutely demolish the box office like Joe and Anthony Russo’s aforementioned event movie, there’s still a lot to look forward to when it comes to Peyton Reed’s diminutive sequel. But don’t just take our word for it; as promised, Marvel has officially lifted the lid on the brand new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, and it’s every bit as quirky and hilarious as you might expect.
Though both characters sat out of Infinity War, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne will be back in action this summer for the upcoming sequel, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Why exactly they didn’t join up with the Avengers for their fight against Thanos, we don’t know, but what we can tell you is that in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hope is poised to pick up the mantle formerly occupied by her mother, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), thereby spawning a daring quest into the Quantum Realm.
That is, in a nutshell, the plot that drives the film, and as Evangeline Lilly explained to Entertainment Weekly just recently, her MCU character is determined to find her long-lost mom. No sign of Pfeiffer’s wayward heroine in today’s trailer, but rest assured, with little over two months until D-day, it won’t be too much longer before Marvel enthusiasts catch a glimpse of OG Wasp.
Via EW:
Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible. The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is expected to take flight on July 6th, and all signs point to a deep dive into the Quantum Realm to locate and potentially rescue the long-lost Janet Van Dyne (Pfeiffer), who was once known as the original Wasp before her daughter, Hope (Lilly), got her wings three years ago.
