With exactly 11 days left to go until the release of Avengers: Infinity War, the entire Marvel fanbase is walking on eggshells in order to avoid spoilers and any sensitive information pertaining to the sequel’s plot.
Doing so isn’t easy, of course, what with the pent-up excitement currently swirling around Joe and Anthony Russo’s epic crossover. And that’s before we even consider the advanced screenings set to occur between now and launch. As a matter of fact, one such event took place early last week, when a number of lucky fans were invited to a screening of Infinity War in London.
As is often the case, each member of the audience was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement in order to prevent any and all spoilers leaking onto the interwebs, but it seems one managed to escape curfew. Per Screen Geek, we’re now hearing that a major MCU character dies at the very beginning of Avengers: Infinity War.
The beginning of Avengers: Infinity War features the death of a major Marvel character. Some fans will be expecting it, while others will be blindsided. It sets the tone for the rest of the movie – as well as the future of the MCU. It’s good that the Russo Brothers are telling fans to be emotionally prepared for the film – because they’ll definitely need to be. Whether you’re expecting it or not, it’s going to be BIG.
How big, exactly? It’s impossible to know for sure, and given Marvel’s no spoiler policy, it’s unlikely we’ll uncover any further details until Avengers: Infinity War opens big on April 27th.
And frankly, that’s okay, lest we ruin a superhero event movie 10 years in the making. It’ll then be followed by the untitled Avengers 4 next year and a Phase 4 that is drastically different from everything that has come before. Suffice it to say, even though Thanos brings an element of finality to the MCU, Marvel’s universe still has a very bright future to look forward to.
