Well, that certainly didn’t take long, now did it?
As you surely know, ever since Marvel Studios lifted the lid on Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War and its 2019 follow-up, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has been oddly absent from most, if not all of the marketing material. No trailer scenes. No posters. Nada.
It’s created quite the stir online, too, as folks scramble to find any clues as to where Hawkeye has been hiding. He’s the archer of the Avengers and a true fan favorite, so it makes sense that his absence has bothered more than a few people. Because even after Infinity War‘s recent poster dump (which included just about everyone), Renner’s character is still nowhere to be found, and while that’ll likely remain the case right up until April 27th, the very vocal Marvel fanbase isn’t just going to sit back and not do anything about it.
Seen below are two new fan-made posters that give Hawkeye the spotlight. Or, to be more specific, they give Hawkeye and Ronin the spotlight, with each alias getting a chance to shine.
For those who may not be familiar with the latter, Ronin was initially dreamed up by comic book duo Brian Michael Bendis and Joe Quesada, and fans are speculating that Hawkeye will soon make the transition to what is essentially another alias for Barton, one that comes into play soon after the events of Marvel’s Civil War.
Granted, Joe and Anthony Russo are keeping things under lock and key – and rightly so – but we’re hopeful that Hawkeye will get his dues when Avengers: Infinity War rolls around later this month. Or, failing that, in the super-secret Avengers 4 in 2019. Either way, we feel like Marvel’s got something special in store for the character and we’ll soon find out what it is.
