Captain Marvel Will Be Similar To Captain America In Avengers 4

Infinity War scribe Christopher Markus believes Captain Marvel's performance in Avengers 4 will be pretty similar to Captain America's.

Even at the best of times, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy are a combative bunch.

They’re the kind of heroes capable of starting an argument in an empty room, and one need only look to the tongue-in-cheek exchange between Stark and Star-Lord in the latest trailer for Avengers: Infinity War (“let’s talk about this plan of yours. I think it’s good, except…it sucks”) for evidence of that.

But with so many characters populating the Marvel roster, one can’t help but wonder: how can Captain America possibly galvanize such a massive lineup on his own? Turns out he won’t need to, as Infinity War screenwriter Christopher Markus told Cinema Blend that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will bring some order and discipline to the team in Avengers 4.

That’s a power scale that right now doesn’t exist in the MCU and it is – or she is, I should say, in some ways the closest to Captain America. Which is a weird, now rare, kind of character… a person who’s right, and knows they’re right, and doesn’t really want to hear it when you tell them they’re wrong. So, with all these flawed, fucked up people, and [Peter] Quill who’s a mess, and Tony [Stark] who’s a massive ego all contorted. It’s fun to get another person with a clear vision in there and going, ‘Shut up.’

She may prove to be Cap’s natural successor, too, given Chris Evans looks set to bid farewell to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once Avengers 4 has finished its planned reshoots later this year. And when you consider that Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers has been described as a “smart, sassy and kick-ass” hero, that mooted transition is a no-brainer, really.

Once Infinity War places our heroes on a collision course with Thanos late next month, the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4 will tend to unfinished business on May 3rd, 2019.
