Imagine someone in your family was brutally murdered and then for the next half-century you were constantly reminded of her horrible death, with filmmakers lining up to dramatize it in theaters. You’d probably be pretty pissed off, right?

Now you’re in the shoes of Debra Tate – sister of Manson family victim Sharon Tate – who is decidedly unimpressed with Quentin Tarantino’s eagerly anticipated Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is reportedly about Tate’s neighbour during the Manson murders. She’s already made her thoughts on the project pretty clear, too, telling TMZ the other week that stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are “throwing all their social responsibility to the wind.”

Be that as it may, the film is still moving forward and today, Deadline brings word that Margot Robbie has signed on to play Sharon. She’ll headline the pic alongside Pitt and DiCaprio, who play Rick and Dalton, respectively, a former star of a Western TV show and his stunt double. Both men are struggling to make it in “a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”

While all of the director’s past work has been distributed by The Weinstein Company, nobody wants that guy involved in their project these days, so Quentin apparently shopped the film around Hollywood. After much buzz, Sony Pictures emerged the victor, granting the project a $100 million budget and a prime slot in the summer schedule – August 9th, 2019.

Unfortunately, further details on what QT’s got planned here have been hard to come by, but we’ll be sure to bring you more on whatever it is the iconic director might have in store for us once Sony’s ready to lift the lid on the pic. After all, with Pitt, Robbie and DiCaprio all locked in now, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is sure to be something special and is no doubt a film you’d best keep your eye on.
