Thor Will Mostly Feature With Rocket And Groot In Avengers: Infinity War

The big hook of Avengers: Infinity War is the chance to see every single major hero in the MCU finally coming together for one (very, very) big movie. The fun, of course, will be in having unlikely team-ups forming amongst the galaxy's mightiest heroes, and one of the unlikeliest we can imagine is a god, a talking raccoon and a teenage tree.

But that’s exactly what’s on the cards in the film, as Thor will mostly be seen alongside Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Rocket and Groot. As part of their extensive coverage of Infinity War, EW have confirmed this interesting tidbit. Apart from their cover featuring the three together, the write-up also mentions the following:

“This trio played by Chris Hemsworth and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper team up for much of Infinity War, venturing through the galaxy on a mission to stop Thanos.”

For those who’ve been following all the updates we’ve had about the movie over the past few months, this trio teaming up won’t be a total surprise, but it’s interesting to note that their side plot will last for much of the runtime. Previous reports have revealed the nature of the group’s mission as well: they’ll venture into space in order to get Thor a new weapon, the Dwarf-made ax called Jarnbjorn.

We can already put the pieces together to work out how Thor comes to meet Rocket and Groot, too. The leaked Infinity War footage from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con showed us that the God of Thunder will crash-land onto the windscreen of the Guardian’s spaceship in the movie, so from there, they clearly form a partnership. It’s likely that Thor’s unexpected landing follows a battle with Thanos’ forces on board his Asgardian refugee ship as well, as teased in the post-credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok.

Avengers: Infinity War is now just over a month and a half away, as it hits theaters worldwide on April 27th. With that in mind, surely the final trailer will be here any day now, right?
