In 1975, Jaws made moviegoers afraid to go in the water. Then, in 2013, Sharknado came along and probably forced a small percentage of people to fear the outdoors as a whole, lest a rogue shark actually slaughter them on their front lawn.
In the time since, four sequels have followed suit, each upping the level of absurdity and featuring a boatload of unexpected celebrity cameos, with everyone from weatherman extraordinaire Al Roker to Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor appearing in small roles. And when factoring all that in, it leaves little room to wonder why this franchise has become the crown jewel in the SyFy network’s proud line of original B-movies, the likes of which have included gems such as Sharktopus and the timeless classic Mega Croc vs. Gatoroid.
But as long as people keep tuning in, the sequels will keep on coming. And with this next one, we’re told to expect an element of time travel to be included, as the freshly released synopsis details:
“All is lost, or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the SHARKNADOS in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when.”
Right now, no goofy subtitle has been applied to the film, but it should arrive before long. If you were to ask us, it’ll be something like “Time to Feed” or “Time to Kill,” but probably one that’ll likely induce more groans.
Set to premiere on July 25 on SyFy, Sharknado 6 stars Tara Reid, Ian Ziering and Cassie Scerbo.
