It’s official, folks.
Fans will finally get a proper look at The Incredibles 2 when a new trailer lands this Wednesday. The news comes courtesy of a brief teaser for the upcoming Pixar superhero movie that aired during coverage of the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The promo sees the Parr family enjoying the sports event, with speedster Dash even proving himself a natural on the ice.
Our first look at the movie came back in December when Disney dropped a fun promo featuring baby Jack-Jack showing off his various powers. Apart from a brief scene at the end that had Bob Parr AKA Mr. Incredible holding up his son proudly, though, it was mostly original content that didn’t reveal any footage from the film itself. Given that, fans are understandably eager to see this “special look,” which will actually give us some idea of what’s in store.
That said, this announcement teaser does actually feature a few clips from the movie. They appear to be taken from the big opening sequence, which will follow on directly from the cliffhanger ending of the first film, which saw the evil Underminer rising up out of the ground to threaten Metroville. We see Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and the rest of their super-powered family taking on the Underminder’s machines, which suggests that this upcoming special look might offer us a proper glimpse of the opening set piece.
From what we understand, The Incredibles 2 will shift the focus to Holly Hunter’s Helen Parr as she assumes the role of the main superhero of the family and Bob agrees to stay home and look after the kids. A synopsis released a few weeks ago teased that Helen would work with PR gurus Winston and Evelyn Deavor as well to help boost the public image of supers – but can she trust them?
We’ll find out when The Incredibles 2 smashes into theaters on June 15th.
