“Super vigilante shit” ensues in the latest trailer for Jessica Jones season 2.
Coming to us by way of Vulture, the supercharged footage sees Marvel’s tough-as-nails private eye struggling to get a grip on her post-traumatic stress, which continues to fester in her subconscious even after the death of Kilgrave.
Mind you, we use the word ‘death’ pretty loosely here, as David Tennant’s slimy, seething supervillain returns to haunt Jessica Jones just as she opens a new case for Alias Investigations. There’s also plenty of screen time for Jessica’s trusted ally, Patsy Walker (Rachael Taylor), whose transformation into Hellcat is all but a shoo-in for season 2.
And it couldn’t be arriving at a better time, as there’s a violent spree of murders to tend to, one which has brought Hell’s Kitchen and its neighboring boroughs to a complete standstill. Chances are Jessica Jones will embark on a more personal journey this time around, which essentially rules out any possible cameos from her superpowered allies – namely Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Danny Rand (Iron Fist) and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. And that’s despite a brief, fiery dalliance with the latter.
He’s since shacked up with Rosario Dawson’s Claire, a mainstay of this small-screen universe who is expected to return in time for Daredevil season 3. And perhaps the sophomore outing of JJ, too?
Either way, Alias Investigations officially (re)opens for business – hopefully with a new window intact – when Jessica Jones season 2 hits Netflix on March 8th. It’ll be comprised of 13 episodes in total, which ought to please those viewers who felt a little underwhelmed by The Defenders and its truncated, six-episode crossover.
