Matthew McConaughey and White Collar star Matt Bomer are the latest stars to sign on for Steven Soderbergh‘s male stripper dramedy Magic Mike. Deadline broke the story that McConaughey and Bomer were joining Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Shiloh Fernandez in the male stripper flick that should make all the girls swoon.

Magic Mike is the allegedly true tale of how Channing Tatum, rising star of G.I. Joe, Dear John and many teenage girl fantasies, got his start in showbiz. The story follows Alex Pettyfer as a newcomer in the world of male strippers who learns the tricks of the trade from Tatum’s veteran stripper. Matthew McConaughey has signed on to play the owner of the club where the guys take it all off and Matt Bomer is set to play a fellow semi-nude dude.

Despite stating his intention to retire soon, Steven Soderbergh is directing Magic Mike, his second consecutive teaming with star Channing Tatum. Soderbergh and Tatum recently worked together on the thriller Haywire, co-starring Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas and Antonio Banderas. Haywire is set for release in January of 2012.

Matthew McConaughey is riding high on the success of the legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer and is building buzz for the Richard LinklaterJack Black indie flick Bernie. Magic Mike marks Matthew McConaughey‘s first teaming with director Steven Soderbergh, though both are nearing their 20th year in Hollywood.

Matt Bomer has made a name for himself with his work on the hit USA series White Collar and now he’s making the jump to the big screen. The erstwhile con-man with a heart of gold will next be seen opposite Justin Timberlake in the sci-fi drama In Time this fall. White Collar is currently in its third season on the USA Network and is likely to get a fourth once the series returns in January.

Magic Mike is set to go into production later this year with a target of late 2012 for release.
