Lea Michele, Ashton Kutcher,Jon Bon Jovi and Josh Duhamel are but a smidgen of the recognizable faces in Garry Marshall‘s next Love Boat for the big screen, New Year’s Eve. It’s a pseudo-sequel to the 2010 star-powered, holiday themed comedy Valentine’s Day. Set on the last day of 2011, New Year’s Eve gathers a galaxy of stars and bounces them off of one another in series of interconnected stories.
Josh Duhamel plays Sam who, according to the film’s trailer, takes a cross country journey to New York City on New Year’s Eve in hopes of finding a woman he met randomly but who left him for New York. Who is this mystery woman worth trekking cross country for? It could be Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sophia Vergara, Katherine Heigl, Sienna Miller, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Halle Berry, Alyssa Milano or Carla Gugino; just a few of the well known actresses in this sprawling cast.
Lea Michele and Jon Bon Jovi play Elise and Jensen. The trailer for New Year’s Eve tells us that Elise has something going on with Ashton Kutcher‘s Randy, though whether they are friends or more than friends or about to be more than friends is unclear. Jon Bon Jovi plays Jensen who has a history, again from the trailer, with Katherine Heigl‘s Laura. How and why Lea Michele and Jon Bon Jovi are on stage together likely has as much to do with soundtrack sales as with the film’s plot.
Who is else is part of this Fantasy Island of a movie? How about Frankie Muniz, Ludacris, Ice Cube, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Abigail Breslin, John Lithgow, Sara Paxton, Julie Andrews, John Stamos, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Ryan Seacrest and Hector Elizondo among others in this romantic tribute to It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
New Year’s Eve does not open on New Year’s but it will likely still be in theaters after opening nationwide on December 9th, 2011.
