Despite the fact that Sony has decided to confound us all by building a cinematic universe of their own comprised of Spider-Man’s supporting characters that doesn’t seem to actually be inhabited by the icon himself, it’s very hard not to look forward to a movie starring Black Cat and Silver Sable, even if it could use a better title than Silver & Black. Well, the film is bound to have more than a few detractors, regardless, but you can’t help being the slightest bit curious.
That being said, it looks like the studio won’t waste much time broadening this strange universe after Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018. As it turns out, Felicia Hardy and Silver Sablinova (yes, one of the titular characters’ names is actually that uninspired) will storm multiplexes on February 8, 2019 in what is already being called Marvel’s answer to Thelma & Louise.
As such, it’s only expected that production get underway soon. According to Omega Underground, this female-led superhero picture will film in Atlanta, Georgia sometime in early 2018. Right now, they’re unaware as to when cameras will begin rolling, but their logic in saying that it’ll likely be between when Venom wraps in February and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 picks up in June seems pretty sound. Regardless, Sony will have to begin the casting process before long – and we mean soon.
Still, it can’t be overlooked that Silver & Black will face some stiff competition in February of 2019 because Fox is set to roll out Gambit a mere week later. One would think that pushing the date would be an option, but that year is already stacked with blockbusters – especially those of the comic book variety – so there isn’t much breathing room to be afforded.
