Arrow’s Stephen Amell Would Love A Role In Justice League Sequel

Unlike Marvel, DC doesn't allow their TV shows to play with their films. Granted, the House of Ideas doesn't do very much crossover between the two mediums, but at least it's permitted. The same can't be said about their rival, however, as the DC Extended Universe is completely separate from shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. Still, that hasn't stopped some of the television actors from voicing their interest in snagging a big screen role in the franchise.

The latest to speak up on the matter is Arrow star Stephen Amell, who was asked during a panel at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest San Jose if he’d be interested in joining a potential Justice League sequel. Of course, a second outing for the titular team hasn’t actually been confirmed just yet, given the first film’s poor box office performance, but if Warner Bros. should go ahead and push one into production, Amell says he’d like to be involved.

“I’m so happy with my role within the DC universe, and whether that is the Arrowverse, the DCEU, the DMV, the BLT, I could, you know what, honestly, would I like to be in a sequel to the Justice League movie? Well yeah, I’d like hanging out with Jason Momoa, so sure! But, you want to cast literally anyone to play Green Arrow in the next version…don’t care. It’s all good, doesn’t bother me. I wish nothing but success for any project with DC on its name.”

The actor’s response here echoes what we’ve heard from his co-stars recently, which is that sure, he’d be happy to join the League on the big screen, but is perfectly content just sticking with TV, too. In fact, Manu Bennett, who plays Deathstroke on Arrow, said something similar earlier this week. When asked if he wishes he could take his version of Slade Wilson to theaters, the actor stated:

“To be honest, when Joe Manganiello was announced to do this role, I was very very happy for him.” Bennett revealed. “Of course, I was a little bit disappointed that I wouldn’t get to do such a wonderful opportunity of getting onto that big screen with Deathstroke. But listen, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a TV actor, and to spend the time it takes to cook a character. And sometimes, I don’t think you get that chance when you’re on the big screen. But as for Joe’s ability to get up there and do this character, I’m behind him, I hope, as much as everybody else is behind him.”

So, pretty much in line with Amell’s thoughts. And while Amell does stand a better chance of one day joining the DCEU since the franchise currently has no Green Arrow, it’s still unlikely to happen. As we said above, DC doesn’t allow crossover between the two mediums and as such, when Arrow is eventually introduced on the big screen, it’ll sadly be another actor who brings him to life.

Still, fans needn’t worry too much, as The CW’s Arrowverse is thriving these days and only looks to be getting bigger and better, with the recent crossover – Crisis On Earth-X – seriously impressing and each of the shows only improving as they go on. In other words, it’s a great time to be a DC fan.
