The official Twitter account for Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series The Punisher has revealed all 13 episode titles for its debut season, though not in the way that you might expect.
The Marvel/Netflix Twitter pages are known for teasing fans. For instance, revealing the release date of The Defenders via mocked-up CCTV footage of the four heroes. This time’s no different, as The Punisher titles were posted in Morse Code, leaving fans to put some effort in and translate them.

In case you couldn’t figure it out, the titles are as follows: 3 AM, Two Dead Men, Kandahar, Resupply, Gunner, The Judas Goat, Crosshairs, Cold Steel, Front Toward Enemy, Virtue of the Vicious, Danger Close, Home and Memento Mori.
Previously, the Marvel/Netflix series have generally had a theme that ties the show’s episode titles together. For example, Jessica Jones’ titles began “AKA…”, referencing Alias Investigations. Luke Cage went even further and named all its episodes after Gang-Starr songs. While not as linked as the titles of those two shows, several of The Punisher’s titles are connected with military references or phrases. This, of course, ties into Frank Castle’s background as a highly-decorated special ops soldier.
Fans have also been quick to point out the significance of the title of the finale: “Memento Mori.” Google gives the definition of the term as “an object kept as a reminder of the inevitability of death, such as a skull.” Not only does this reference the symbol the Punisher wears, but it also taps into how Castle’s always haunted by the deaths of his wife and kids. Even though Frank got his revenge on the Blacksmith for orchestrating the mob war that killed his family in Daredevil season 2, he won’t have recovered from their loss in his own solo series.
The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil‘s Karen Page), Ben Barnes (Punisher’s nemesis, Jigsaw) and Ebon Moss Bachrach (Micro, Frank’s man in the van). We still don’t have a release date for the show but, going by the fact that we now know the episode titles, that news will probably land very soon.
