The God Of Thunder Will Be Funnier Than Ever In Thor: Ragnarok

Between them, Justice League and Avengers: Infinity War effectively brought the Internet to a standstill throughout the course of this past weekend, after Warner Bros. and Marvel showcased their costumed crusaders to those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con. There's no doubt about it, those were the two titles that stole the entire show, drawing the most eyeballs and generating the most discussion, but following incredibly close behind was Taika Waititi's upcoming threequel, Thor: Ragnarok.

Between them, Justice League and Avengers: Infinity War effectively brought the Internet to a standstill throughout the course of this past weekend, after Warner Bros. and Marvel showcased their costumed crusaders to those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con. There’s no doubt about it, those were the two titles that stole the entire show, drawing the most eyeballs and generating the most discussion, but following incredibly close behind was Taika Waititi’s upcoming threequel, Thor: Ragnarok.

Stripped of Mjölnir and flung to the other side of the universe, where he winds up on the alien planet of Sakaar, it looks as though Thor will be pushed to the absolute brink once the film gets going in earnest. But he won’t be going up against Hela alone; as the recent sizzle reel attests, Waititi’s galactic adventure sees Thor buddy up with his estranged sibling Loki (Tom Hiddleston), along with the Incredible Hulk and Tessa Thompson’s fearless warrior, Valkyrie.

Sounds like a pretty wild ride, right? According to Waititi, it’ll be exactly that, as the director opened up at Comic-Con last week about what fans should expect when the threequel touches down in theatres this November, and said that it’ll been a fun adventure that’s sure to entertain.

“Tonally, it’s fun,” Waititi says. “I wanted to make it an adventure that people could leave the cinema feeling uplifted and feeling like they’ve been on an adventure it’s been fun, and that they’ve been entertained. I just want to entertain people with the film.”

Elaborating a bit more on what’s in store for us, Waititi noted that we’re going to see a side of Thor that’s a lot more fun and loveable than what we’ve seen in the past.

“You look at the cast and they’re all beautiful, they’re all talented, they’re all funny, I couldn’t have been luckier with that cast. Chris [Hemsworth] especially. He’s one of the funniest guys I know and we really exploited that, really tapped into that side of him. You’re going to see a version of Thor that’s more fun and, actually I think, the most lovable. A version of Thor that people are going to like.”

On November 3rd, Thor: Ragnarok will push Chris Hemsworth’s Norse god to the absolute brink, shattering Mjolnir into a million pieces in the process. Waititi is behind the lens for this one, as mentioned above, and he’s continually impressed moviegoers through the likes of What We Do in the Shadows and the really rather excellent Hunt For the Wilderpeople. As such, we’re definitely excited to see what he’s done with the upcoming threequel.
