Speaking to PEOPLE recently, Carter explained that she wanted to appear in the movie, but scheduling issues prevented it.

“We were trying to get me in the first one, and we couldn’t make it work with our timing.”

Thankfully, the actresses believes there’s still a chance she could make a cameo in the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel instead. In fact, she told PEOPLE that she’s already discussed it with director Patty Jenkins.

“It really is up to Patty, and if it works in an organic way it’ll be great fun and it’ll be wonderful to do. Am I open to it? Absolutely. I adore Patty Jenkins, and it’ll be wonderful to do. But we’ll just see how that goes.”

Carter went on to say how much she loves what Gal Gadot and Jenkins have done with the character. In particular, the latter, as Carter believes the director totally understands Diana Prince.

“I was so taken with the both of them, and taken with Patty from the beginning when she very first got this film, and we talked on the phone. I just said that she knows who this character is. Because Wonder Woman — it’s the idea of her. It’s not about superpowers, it’s about her intellect and compassion. It’s so much more than some comic book character, because we identify with it.”

The actress also spoke about the importance of Wonder Woman as an icon for women, and how much the movie inspired people.

“It certainly did inspire a lot of women. Women are coming out of the movie feeling emboldened, feeling good about themselves. Because that’s who we are. We are half the world, and we want to be represented as half the world.”

While we wait to see if Carter will make an appearance in Wonder Woman 2, you can catch her in a recurring role as President Olivia Marsdin on The CW’s Supergirl, which returns on Monday, October 9th.
