From the moment Marvel began its exhaustive casting process on Spider-Man: Homecoming, moviegoers realized that Jon Watts’ franchise reset was pulling together an ensemble for the ages.
On the one hand, you have seasoned veterans like Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Michael Keaton (The Vulture) and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) headlining a starry cast list that also makes room for Donald Glover and Michael Mando – Aaron Davis and Mac Gargan, respectively – and that’s before you direct the spotlight toward some of Homecoming‘s potential breakouts: Laura Harrier, Zendaya and of course, Tom Holland.
And though it’s yet to be confirmed, Laura Harrier has been discussing her potential involvement in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 during a recent interview with Screen Rant. Should Harrier’s Liz Allan return to the fray, she’d like to see her character transform into Firestar.
As those familiar with the source material will know all too well, Liz Allan is Peter Parker’s high-school crush, and her close relationship with Tom Holland’s protagonist leads us to believe that Marvel and director Jon Watts will find room in Homecoming 2 for Laura Harrier. Assuming that is indeed the case, here’s what the actress had to say about the possible advent of Firestar.
I hope Liz get’s powers, because that’s what happens in the comics. She becomes like Firestar, and she can like light things on fire.
On July 7th, Jon Watts will unleash Spider-Man: Homecoming upon theatres and with it, a new version of Peter Parker for fans to root for. Word is that Watts plans to return for Homecoming 2 (July 5th, 2019), which may well select Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man as the hero to supplant Robert Downey Jr.’s outgoing Iron Man – despite their upcoming reunion in Avengers: Infinity War, it’s been confirmed that RDJ won’t be reprising his mentor-like role in the Homecoming sequel.
