No, you’re not dreaming – Metroid Prime 4 is real, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch. If you’re now frantically looking for more details on Samus Aran’s long-awaited return, you shouldn’t bother – the Big N revealed nothing other than the fact that the sequel is in active development.
Confirmation comes by way of Nintendo’s games spotlight at E3 2017 today, but the title is clearly in very early development, as no gameplay or cinematic trailer was in sight to whet fans’ appetite. No, for now, we’ll just have to be happy that Nintendo has finally decided to return to the series, which hasn’t had a mainline entry since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption all the way back in 2007. That’s right, a decade has passed since we last set out on a first-person adventure across the galaxy.
We wish there was more to share, but for now, that’s it as far as Ms. Aran is concerned. Fortunately, however, Ninty has Super Mario Odyssey, Pokken Tournament DX and Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon to share more details for on the show floor of this year’s E3, so there’s plenty to keep Nintendo fans occupied until more Metroid news surfaces.
For what it’s worth, you can check out the ‘First Look’ teaser for Metroid Prime 4 above. If nothing else, it’s worth a once-over just to reassure yourselves that a sequel is actually coming.
