While it may not boast the ridiculous amount of sequels that the Amityville franchise has been able to accrue, the Child’s Play franchise can lay claim to one of the most dedicated followings in all of the horror genre. Even with the tongue-in-cheek tone it’s adopted over the years, the brand has consistently proven that you can’t keep a Good Guy down. With that, it comes as no surprise that the next installment, Cult of Chucky, recently wrapped principal photography.
Aside from the murderous doll himself, one enduring fixture in the series has been that of actress Jennifer Tilly. While she hasn’t been there from the start, it’s certainly getting hard to imagine the franchise without her, much like Castiel with Supernatural. From the sound of it, she’s not going anywhere either, as she recently told The Hollywood Reporter the following:
“I’m super-good friends with the director [Don Mancini]. I think he’s going to put me in every Chucky movie until the end of time, and I honestly feel like there are going to be Chucky movies until the end of time because at the end of every movie he dies and comes back to life again.”
She’s probably right about that. Between this and Family Guy, Tilly’s set for life, but she’ll undoubtedly take other gigs if they’re the right fit for her. As for the specifics regarding her next tour as Tiffany, well, they may sound confusing to the layman, but you should be able to follow along if you’re up to speed:
“I play Tiffany, and I’m sure you don’t follow it but a few years ago, I played myself and Tiffany went into my body — Jennifer Tilly, international movie star — and Tiffany the doll, Tiffany’s soul went into Jennifer. So in this movie, I may be Tiffany or I may be Jennifer Tilly. We don’t know. But they introduce me as Jennifer Tilly, but I’m very Tiffany-esque. I kill people. It’s really fun. The Chucky fans and horror film fans will really love that.”
Cult of Chucky is currently slated for an October 20th release.
