The Vanity Fair preview of Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to spawn hundreds of articles as journalists pore over it like vultures swarming around the carcass of a rotting antelope, hungry for any and all Star Wars news. Some of the stories that’ve been revealed are touching, some of them interesting and some of them are honestly pretty trivial. This one falls into the latter category, though it’s still yet another genuine (if tiny) news morsel about what’s going to happen in The Last Jedi.

If you cast your mind back to the climactic moments of The Force Awakens, you’ll recall that John Boyega’s ex-stormtrooper Finn wasn’t doing so well after his run in with Adam Driver’s somewhat peeved Kylo Ren. Worryingly, he even seemed to be in some sort of coma.

Given that we know Finn has a major part to play in Rian Johnson’s upcoming movie, not to mention he was spied in some kind of cream-colored suit in the trailer, fans had idly wondered just how he was going to return to health. Well, wonder no more, as John Boyega has confirmed he’s resting in a bacta suit.

Then again, any seasoned Star Wars fan would have guessed bacta would be involved somehow. If you’re not familiar with the term, do you remember when Luke was floating in some kind of goo after being rescued by Han during the Hoth scenes in The Empire Strikes Back? That’s bacta. It’s also the stuff used to keep Darth Vader alive. It appears as an all-purpose treatment across Star Wars media, with Wookiepedia describing it as a “thick, gelatinous substance with seemingly magical healing qualities.”

So now you know. And just remember, if you ever suffer a nasty cut while lightsaber training or graze yourself climbing out of the Sarlaac pit, bacta’s what’ll get you ‘bacta’ health.

You can learn much more about the powerful healing goo, as well as what Rey, Finn, Poe and the rest of the gang are up to in The Last Jedi, when the film’s released on December 15th.
