The last time we laid eyes on Luke Hemsworth’s Security Officer Stubbs, he was heading out into the park to investigate the increasingly worrying AI behavior, but when everything came to a head and the Hosts began to overthrow and slaughter their creators, he was nowhere to be seen. This led to speculation that the relatively minor supporting character had simply been killed off, but it seems that isn’t the case.

During an interview with The Huffington Post, Hemsworth confirmed that Stubbs is indeed alive and well, while also commenting on the direction that the show is set to take for its highly anticipated sophomore season:

Physically? [Stubbs is] well. He’s doing all right. Just taking a sabbatical.

It’s gotta be a step up, doesn’t it? So it’s gotta get more complex. If there’s any room for production values to get bigger – I don’t know how they’d do that – but I’m sure it will.

Stubbs may still be in the land of the living when we return to the titular theme park, but it remains to be seen how long that’ll last if Dolores and her new robot followers get their hands on him. After all, at this point, we know very little in regards to what season 2 of HBO’s perplexing, but superb Westworld has in store for us, though we’ll surely find out a little more as we inch closer to its return in 2018.
