The results are in for this week’s big hitters in the UK charts, revealing that Mass Effect: Andromeda has managed to take pole position in its debut week, although it hasn’t quite managed to surpass what’s gone before. The third biggest launch of 2017 so far, Andromeda has, some would say, defied the odds of its mixed critical reception to replicate what its predecessors Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 managed to achieve, but it’s not all good news – both of those titles managed to do more overall sales than Andromeda, meaning BioWare’s latest entry sits at third in overall week one performance for the series, only beating the original game.
As for the rest of this week’s chart, Andromeda‘s placement, of course, means that Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands gets knocked off its previous perch, slipping to No.2, with both LEGO Worlds and Horizon Zero Dawn falling one place to third and fourth, respectively. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V also falls one place to fifth, but its continued presence anywhere in the top 10 is a remarkable sight to behold, what with it being more than three years old.
Elsewhere, Nintendo’s Switch-seller The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild remains unchanged at sixth, as does Forza Horizon 3, which holds onto tenth for another week.

As for Mass Effect: Andromeda, following the widespread criticism levelled at its sometimes wonky animations and lack of character creation options, BioWare says it’s looking into improving such issues, although when that’ll come to fruition is anyone’s guess. We’ll keep you updated on the matter, so stay tuned.
