If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past few years, it’s that somebody over at The CW really, really loves the character of Felicity Smoak. Yes, she does have a very vocal fanbase (to put it mildly) that allowed her romance with Oliver Queen to derail any character development and/or screentime that would’ve otherwise been afforded to Laurel Lance’s rise as the Black Canary on Arrow, but she’s also been the subject of a featurette on The Flash season 1’s Blu-ray set for some reason.
Well, get ready for somebody’s favorite computer hacker to branch out further into the Arrowverse, because it looks like she’ll be appearing in this season’s penultimate episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as – wait for it – the Huntress. Or a very Huntress-like character, at the very least.
As it turns out, executive producer Marc Guggenheim was the one to drop the bomb via Twitter, depicting Felicity as a masked vigilante in some concept art illustrated by Andy Poon and designed by Maya Mani. Mysteriously enough, the color scheme is more accurate to the comic book version (Helena Bertinelli) than what was seen on earlier seasons of Arrow. Go figure.
Actually, Guggenheim hinted at this a while back:
“In the penultimate episode we’re gonna have — I can’t be specific about this, but it’s one of the most fun things I think we’ve ever done on the show — a character from one of the other shows on Legends in a way that you’ve never seen before.
“You may never see [that version of the character] again. But [it] will, I think, just send fans into squeals of joy.”
To be fair, we’ll just have to wait and see how this alternate take that resides on “Doomworld,” the reality the Legion of Doom has created via using the Spear of Destiny, turns out before any of us decide if we want to see it again on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow or elsewhere. But regardless of that, it seems like Felicity will continue being a DC TV staple no matter what form she takes.
