Capcom’s fun-loving survival horror title Dead Rising 4 is now available to purchase and download on Steam, the dev’s announced. Having been available on Xbox One and Windows 10 since December last year, the sequel’s release on the service is the first time the title has made the jump from a Microsoft platform to another, so if you’ve so far passed on the opportunity to dispatch with a near-endless horde of the undead with absurd weaponry at your disposal, perhaps this particular version can change your mind.
Set almost two decades after the original, Dead Rising 4 marks the return of protagonist Frank West to the Willamette Mall, which has once again been besieged by the rotting corpses of the poor souls who couldn’t cut it in the post-apocalypse. Those of you picking up this particular version will also receive all free content released since launch, including My Bloody Valentine, two additional difficulty modes and a Street Fighter costume pack which, as you’d expect, allows Frank to dress up as the likes of Guile, Zangief and Cammy. The season pass is available to purchase separately for $19.99.

According to a recent Capcom investor Q&A, Dead Rising 4 didn’t quite manage to meet the level of success that had been expected of it, perhaps suggesting that attempts to reach new audiences with a change in gameplay direction put longtime fans off of picking up the sequel. Does that spell doom for any potential talks of a follow-up? We’ll have to see what the future brings.
