Rogue One: A Star Wars Story exceeded expectations last December, and while the focus is now turning to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we still have more great content from the first Anthology movie to get excited over. That’s because a comic book adaptation of the Gareth Edwards-helmed release is on the way. It’ll run for six issues and feature story material which didn’t make it into the film itself.
While that’s unlikely to consist of any of the stuff which was scrapped due to reshoots, it should still be very interesting to see which extra scenes make the cut here. It’s also a good thing that this Rogue One: A Star Wars Story adaptation is being given room to breathe across six issues, as that should make for an enjoyable reading experience.
Set to go on sale on April 5th, the series will be written by Jody Houser (Max Ride) with art by Emilio Laiso (Star Wars Annual) and Oscar Bazaldua (Gwenpool Holiday Special). That’s a fairly strong roster of talent, though it remains to be seen just how much of a must-buy this book ends up being.
After all, if that extra content doesn’t amount to much, we’re only going to get what’s essentially an abridged version of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in comic book form – which would probably only please the diehard fans. Either way, we’re definitely excited to see what it brings to the table and we’ll have our full review of the adaptation in just a few weeks, so be sure to stay tuned!
