Chinese Poster For Spider-Man: Homecoming Is A Bit Bizarre

Spidey is set to swing into theaters this July, which really isn't too far off now, yet oddly enough, the marketing campaign hasn't kicked into gear yet. Aside from the thrilling first trailer back in December, it's been pretty slow as far as promotional material goes and with only a few months left now until the blockbuster arrives, it's understandable that fans are eager to see more of the Jon Watts-directed flick.

Thankfully, it won’t be too much longer now before the floodgates open. More than likely, the next preview for Spider-Man: Homecoming will land with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (which opens the first week of May), and once James Gunn’s film is out of the way, Marvel will begin to aggressively market the webslinger’s next outing. Until then, however, we’ll have to take what we can get and today brings with it a bizarre piece of art.

Seen below, the Chinese Instagram account for the film has released a new poster, which is definitely a bit strange. We see a cartoon version of Peter running after the school bus with one of his Spider-Man gloves hanging from his backpack. It’s an interesting approach to a poster, to be sure, and definitely not what you’d expect from a big Marvel blockbuster.

That being said, it’s visually appealing and if nothing else, provides a unique spin on the posters we’d normally see. There is, of course, a chance that this is simply just fan art, but given that the Instagram account is verified, that’s probably not the case.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th. We should be getting more footage from the flick soon, but until we do, take a look at the odd new poster below and let us know what you make of it by leaving a comment in the usual place.
