Perhaps more so than any other genre in the business, science fiction movies tend to produce some truly spectacular pieces of concept art. Depending on the film in question, that artwork could depict otherworldly vistas that didn’t make the cut or, in the case of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a rebellion built on hope.
Ever since the Gareth Edwards-directed anthology movie blasted into theaters late last year, Matt Allsopp’s personal Instagram feed (via Comic Book) has transformed into a hive of activity. Allsopp worked as Rogue One‘s lead concept artist and, judging by his collection of work, was heavily involved in Disney and Lucasfilm’s wildly successful spinoff from the word go. Embedded above, you’ll find a full batch of Matt Allsopp’s renderings, which feature everything from AT-ATs storming the beaches of Scarif to K-2SO and Cassian Andor preparing for liftoff.
[zergpaid]If behind-the-scenes images are more your thing, we’ve got you covered; late last week, Australian photographer Alex Benetel took to Instagram to share never-before-seen pictures from the set of Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars story. The result? A deluge of gorgeous photos that find beauty amid the rebellion.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is purportedly on course to hit Blu-Ray in April, which is shaping up to be a busy month for Disney’s galaxy far, far away what with reports suggesting that the first teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit the interwebs in time for Star Wars Celebration. It’s being edited as we speak, so it shouldn’t be too much longer before we know what’s in store for Rey, Finn, Poe and the rest of the gang.
