Sharknado 5 is happening, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

With much of North America left in ruins following the events of Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, the fifth entry into Syfy and The Asylum’s gloriously brainless franchise is poised to take its shark-infested storms global. Ian Ziering (Fin Shephard), Tara Reid (April Wexler) and Cassie Scerbo (Nova) are among the stars returning for another helping of horrifying comedy.

Cameras are just now beginning to roll, and we understand that Sharknado 5 will lens in more than five countries across the globe, including Bulgaria, the UK and Australia. In recent years, the latter has proven to be more and more popular among Hollywood studios, given Down Under has also played host to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Thor: Ragnarok.

No further details were disclosed for Sharknado 5 at the time of writing. Considering that Syfy plans to expand the scope onto a global scale, we fully expect Fin and the gang to be battling off a Sharknado of apocalyptic proportions. With so many shark-laden twisters ripping up the landscape, it’s a wonder there are any sharks left in the world’s oceans.

For now, Sharknado 5 is simply a working title, and given the franchise’s tendency to ape Hollywood blockbusters (see: Sharknado: The 4th Awakens) in that department, we fully expect another tongue-in-cheek, potentially meta moniker to be announced closer to release. Sharknado V: Fin Strikes Back, anyone?
