In the midseason finale of The Flash, Barry Allen made his first visit to the future and discovered that Iris West dies at the hands of Savitar a few months from now. We’ve already heard that the second half of the show’s third season will revolve around the Scarlet Speedster’s quest to stop that from happening, and now more details about this particular story arc have been revealed.

During a recent interview with TV Line, The Flash executive producer Aaron Helbing had this to say about what we should expect from The Fastest Man Alive’s mission from here.

“Obviously Barry loves Iris more than anything, and now that he has gotten a glimpse of the future, the thrust of the back half of the season is Barry trying to do whatever it takes to save her. The future is malleable. Anything can happen.”

Apparently, the Flash is going to enlist Cisco/Vibe and Wally West/Kid-Flash to help save Iris, while the co-showrunner went on to explain that we shouldn’t expect Savitar’s three prophecies to play out exactly as he promised due to how time plays out. Either way, things are going to get seriously difficult for The Fastest Man Alive as he looks to stop the so-called God of Speed.

Season 3 of The Flash has been great so far, and while many fans have been disappointed to see Barry taking on another speedster, Savitar has certainly shaken things up this year. Plus, now that we know he’s responsible for Iris’ murder (even if it doesn’t come to pass), that makes him an even more formidable threat than pretty much anyone expected.
