The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will be the first season of Telltale’s hit episodic series to skip PS3 and Xbox 360 altogether – but don’t worry, the developer has outlined a way to import your existing save files.
Word comes by way of Telltale’s support website, confirming that “The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will not be available on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 game consoles. This includes digital and disc formats.”
Should you wish to carry over your progress from The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2, the import feature can be accessed through the older console, and will instruct you to upload your existing save file to the cloud. Keep in mind that this handy workaround won’t be supported for those on PlayStation Vita.
Per Telltale:
“If you would like to import a complete save from The Walking Dead – Season Two to a different platform than you originally played the game, you will need to download and install the latest patch for The Walking Dead – Season Two. Your device will need to be online in order to download the latest patch. Once your game is patched, you will see a new option to Upload your existing save on the in-game ‘Save Files’ menu. The Walking Dead – Season Two save you wish to use must be a complete season save to import to The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. You will also need a Telltale account to complete this process, which can be created for FREE at anytime by going to www.telltale.com.”
For PS4, Xbox One and PC owners – not to mention those on mobile devices – The Walking Dead: A New Frontier begins with a two-part premiere entitled “Ties That Bind,” and you can see the thrilling launch trailer of Clementine and Javier in action right here. Expect the Season Pass disc to become available for PS4 and Xbox One users on February 7, 2017, which will open up access to all five episodes of the third season as they’re released.
