The slow burning ballad has been a staple of Simple Plan’s catalog ever since their inception. Once they put out “Perfect” as a single over thirteen years ago, it became a hit all over television, but also in the hearts of misunderstood youth everywhere. Four albums later, the band’s made what could be the little sister of “Perfect” in what is aptly titled, “Perfectly Perfect,” and they’ve just unveiled the music video for it.
In a clip drenched in black and white, “Perfectly Perfect” has all the qualities to tear on the heartstrings. Luckily, though, it’s not for any sad reasons: the video chronicles the relationships of a dozen or so real life couples — some gay, some straight, some interracial. Hearing how they’ve met and then watching the band play the song between shots of the couples interacting really adds a fantastic element to video.
While it may sound similar to a few other popular tracks out there, “Perfectly Perfect” still finds a way to stand alone as the supreme Simple Plan ballad.
