As we stand on the precipice of December, chatter of New Year Resolutions is beginning to take hold, particularly for those coming off a weekend of Thanksgiving-themed indulgence. Netflix is no exception, as the online streaming giant has today vowed to begin its Santa Clarita Diet on February 3, 2017.
Word comes by way of Entertainment Weekly, revealing that the original single-camera sitcom, one which stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in lead roles, has now been earmarked for a February premiere. Showrunner Victor Fresco (My Name Is Earl, Better Off Ted) is at the helm for all 13 episodes of Santa Clarita Diet, and will be tasked with introducing Netflix subscribers to Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore), a married couple of realtors “leading vaguely disconnected lives in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita.”
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Joel and Sheila, however; not only do they have to deal with teenage daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), but EW’s plot snippet teases how the show sends our leads “down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way” once Sheila goes through a “dramatic change.” Exactly what that change entails is a mystery, but expect more firm details – and perhaps Santa Clarita Diet‘s first trailer – to surface online sooner rather than later. Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell are among the supporting players on board for Fresco’s all-new sitcom.
It’s official: Netflix will begin its Santa Clarita Diet on February 3, 2017. The only question left now is, will you be tuning in?
