With less than a month to go until Watch Dogs 2 makes its way to consoles and PC, Ubisoft has released a new trailer for the cyber-sleuth title, this time giving fans a preview of its pre-order exclusive ‘Zodiac Killer’ mission.
While the main threat of Ubisoft’s follow-up to the 2014 original will be the renewed threat posed by the ctOS 2.0 surveillance system, protagonist Marcus Holloway will have other dangers to deal with in San Francisco, namely the reemergence of the infamous Zodiac Killer, who terrorized the real Bay Area during the 1960s and 70s.
Having been responsible for the deaths of at least five people, the killer themselves claimed to have murdered as many as 37 individuals, having referred to themselves as the Zodiac in cryptic messages sent to the police at the time. Despite the huge amount of media coverage and a nationwide manhunt, the killer was never found and their identity is still left unsolved.
Ubisoft says (via Polygon) that Marcus will attempt to pursue an “unwanted ghost of San Francisco’s past,” in the bonus mission after it emerges that “a killer is staging the bodies of his victims all over Oakland like the infamous Zodiac Killer of the Sixties, and he’s taunting the police and news outlets with coded messages.” Multiple cryptic riddles await you in ‘Zodiac Killer’, which includes an exclusive Zodiac-themed outfit as a reward for those that manage to decipher the mystery.
Watch Dogs 2 comes to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15 and PC on November 29. The ‘Zodiac Killer’ missions is included in all pre-orders.
