Fast approaching the end of principal photography, Spider-Man: Homecoming has already earned its status as one of the most-anticipated movies of 2017 – thanks in large part to Tom Holland’s cracking performance in Civil War – and the steady stream of set photos has only ensured that that excitement remains at a fever-pitch.

As this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though, those involved in Homecoming are already thinking further afield, and we’re not just talking about Spidey’s next outing alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

While appearing at the NYFF premiere for The Lost City of Z, Tom Holland told WWD that there have been discussions internally regarding the potential Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Referencing both the creative direction of the follow-up and the villains that could go on to appear in it, Holland stated that, “my next project, I can’t tell you about, but we’ve just finished ‘Spider-Man’ and we’re talking about the second one and who the villain is going to be and where we’re going.”

When it comes to his next Avengers role (Infinity War?), it isn’t quite as clear cut, after the actor conceded to Variety that at the moment, “it’s all up in the air. I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is.”

Holland, who has shared numerous set videos touting his remarkable athleticism, then went on to discuss his extensive stunt work on Homecoming.

“I did as many [of the stunts] as I could, but there are some things legally that I couldn’t do. There were stunt doubles who were all very, very talented guys who really supported me throughout the process. Whenever there was a stunt that I didn’t necessarily feel comfortable about, they would step in and show my how to do it, and coach me through the process.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming darts into theaters on July 7, 2017. Jon Watts’ standalone pic hasn’t quelled talk of those Spidey spinoffs at Sony either, with news expected to emerge soon.
