A Community Unites In The Face Of Terror In First Teaser For Patriots Day

Peter Berg's upcoming drama Patriots Day is set to remember the Boston Strong in December and today brings forth the poignant first teaser trailer.

April 15, 2013 will be a day long remembered for the people of Boston for it was here that a terrorist attacked rocked the city during the midst of the annual Boston Marathon. A devastating event that resulted in the deaths of 6 people, Hollywood studios have mapped out plans to remember the Boston Strong via documentaries and feature films in the vein of Peter Berg’s Patriots Day.

Heralding another collaboration with good-luck charm Mark Wahlberg – the two first worked together on Lone Survivor, another thriller based on real events – the awards-tipped picture is a star-studded account of the events that transpired three years ago, and today brings forth the poignant first teaser trailer ahead of its December release.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are the brains behind that understated score, as today’s snippet introduces us to Wahlberg’s Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders. It then switches gears to parade the stellar supporting cast of Patriots Day, including Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons.

The dust has barely settled from Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg’s true-life thriller Deepwater Horizon, but the prolific pair are on a streak, and Patriots Day will see them jostling for a place in this season’s awards race when the Boston bombing drama opens in limited theaters across New York, Los Angeles and Boston on December 21. Look for the drama to expand nationwide on January 13, 2017.
