Ubisoft’s upcoming medieval action game For Honor has been receiving rather a lot of attention lately. A closed multiplayer alpha for the melee-focused hack and slash just recently concluded, giving those that managed to obtain access a taste of what to expect when the full package launches next year, but it also left many with some burning questions. Mainly: how substantial of a single-player mode will it have?
Fortunately, For Honor‘s creative director Jason VandenBerghe has told GameSpot in a recent interview that fans who prefer a more solo can expect the title’s campaign to be a “full experience” rather than a tacked-on afterthought.
“It’s a full story campaign, a cinematic adventure where you will play as the knights first as the Warden, then you play as the Raider, then you play as the Orochi,” said VandenBerghe, before adding that players will visit all three main homeland regions of the knights, vikings and samurais, making you feel as if you’re going on a “great adventure.”
In fact, VendenBerghe says that, even if you opted to entirely ignore For Honor‘s multiplayer component, the campaign alone will leave you satisfied.
We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It’s intended to be a full experience.
For Honor launches for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on February 14, 2017, and sees three of history’s most iconic warrior factions come together in a be-all and end-all fictional war to determine who’s strongest. We had the chance to go hands-on with the brawler at this year’s E3, and you can read all about it here.
