Between the unveiling of PSVR back at GDC in March and September’s PlayStation Meeting, one designed to introduce PS4 Pro to the gaming industry, it’s been a busy 12 months in the Sony camp. But the Japanese platform-holder has found space on the calendar to host one final hurrah.
For the third year on the trot, December will herald Sony’s PlayStation Experience (PSX), only this time, as rumored, the annual showcase will uproot for Anaheim, California, slotting into the same convention center that hosts BlizzCon year in, year out.
As relayed by PlayStation Blog, PSX 2016 will begin in earnest on Saturday, December 3 with a “PlayStation Showcase,” an E3-lite keynote that’s booked in to start at 10am PT. If previous showcases are any indication, fans can expect plenty of announcements and gameplay demos, with both PSVR and PS4 Pro set to enjoy a healthy amount of screentime. On the topic, those at home should be able to stream the presser over the interwebs, so stay tuned for further details on that front.
Buoyed by the success of last year’s tournament, there’s also word of the Capcom Cup returning to PlayStation Experience. PS Blog notes that the finals will be held on Saturday at 6 PM PT, where competitors will be locking horns for their share of a $250,000 prize pool, along with the enviable title of Street Fighter V world champion. For many, that’s almost more important that the prize pool on offer. Almost.
So, there you have it; PlayStation Experience 2016 will take place over the weekend of December 3. As mentioned above, tickets are now available, and you’ll discover everything you need to know regarding price tiers and scheduling right here.
