Jon Favreau is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it’s been announced that he’ll reprise his role of Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming (which is apparently going to be the best Spidey film yet). If you recall, the actor/director played the character back in the first MCU movie ever, Iron Man. He also showed up in both of that film’s sequels but aside from that, has been completely absent from the Marvel world.

According to Variety, Favreau will have a role in Homecoming when it hits theatres next year. We’re not sure yet how he’ll factor into things, but given that Robert Downey Jr. will be showing up as Tony Stark in the film, it makes sense that Happy will be included here, too.

Currently in production in Atlanta under the watchful eye of Cop Car helmer Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming has got to have one of the most jam packed casts around, with its roster of talent already boasting Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Tony Revolori, Zendaya (who may or may not be playing MJ Watson), Hannibal Buress, Bokeem Woodbine, Martin Starr, and Donald Glover, among a few others.

That being the case, it’s likely that Favreau won’t have a huge part to play here, but we’re excited to hear about his inclusion nonetheless. Plus, given that he has an executive producer credit on Avengers: Infinity War, it would probably be safe to assume that perhaps he’ll have a small role in that film as well.

Time will tell on that front, but for now, we can look forward to seeing Favreau on the big screen again when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
