A major announcement concerning Dark Souls III is inbound next week, the game’s official Twitter page has confirmed. The post, which reads “Huge news on the way, folks. “What is it?” You ask? Well, you’re going to have to wait and find out,” is accompanied by an image with the caption “Ashen Ones… A major announcement is forthcoming on August 24.”

Although nobody can say for sure, we’d have to assume that the announcement is going to involve a reveal of the rock-hard RPG’s first slice of DLC, which both Namco Bandai and FromSoftware have both confirmed will be releasing at some point in the fall.
Of course, there’s every chance this could turn out to be another T-shirt scenario, but we’d imagine the people involved in that ill-conceived publicity stunt have probably learned their lesson. No, this has to be something big after that, so you can probably assume the news is to do with the first upcoming expansion, especially as autumn is almost upon us.
Don’t forget either, that a second piece of additional content is currently planned for an ‘early 2017’ release, but when we’ll get more details on that one is anyone’s guess.
