Buried beneath yesterday’s confirmation that Sebastian Stan would reprise his role as The Winter Soldier for Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War was news that Stan had agreed terms to join We Have Always Lived in the Castle, the creepy supernatural thriller hailing from director Stacie Passon.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Alexandra Daddario and American Horror Story alum Taissa Farmiga will star opposite Sebastian Stan as two peculiar, agoraphobic sisters.
Based loosely on Shirley Jackson’s 1962 novel, it is the arrival of the siblings’ scheming cousin (Stan) that threatens the security of their family fortune, with the early teaser teeing up a domestic thriller peppered with supernatural elements:
“We Have Always Lived in the Castle follows an isolated family, which has already lost four members to poisoning, that uses rituals and talismans to keep itself away from hostile townspeople. Into this scenario arrives a distant cousin, intent on maliciously securing the family’s fortune and whose arrival sets in motion the uncovering of family secrets.”
No word yet on when Stacie Passon will order We Have Always Lived in the Castle into production, but we do know Passon wrote the script alongside Mark Kruger. Fresh off her collaboration with Dwayne Johnson on disaster pic San Andreas, Alexandra Daddario will be part of Paramount’s “Avengers of the Beach” when Baywatch trots into theaters on May 19, 2017. As for Farmiga, the up-and-comer is more known in TV circles for parts in both American Horror Story: Murder House and American Horror Story: Coven.
