Spencer Strasmore is a go-getter – and that never-say-die attitude has clearly proved infectious at HBO. Two weeks into the show’s sophomore run, the network has announced plans to renew Ballers for a third season, ensuring Strasmore’s career as an astute financial manager stretches long into 2017.
Set against the sun-kissed streets of Miami, it is the seemingly omnipresent Dwayne Johnson that plays the part of Spencer Strasmore. As an ex-football player himself, Johnson’s charismatic lead knows a thing or two about navigating the lavish lifestyles of current and former superstars, but as is the case in the current season, Strasmore finds himself going toe-to-toe with Andy Garcia’s hot new player in town.
As Deadline reports, Ballers season 2 is off to a commendable start, with the premiere episode pulling in upwards of 5.7 million viewers. This, coupled with the star power of Dwayne Johnson – who leads a cast that comprises Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon and Arielle Kebble – ought to ensure the show’s long-term future on HBO.
Ballers season 3 will in all likelihood premiere in the summer of 2017.
