Having booked his place at the annual event with an appropriately vain video promo, Will Arnett’s Dark Knight is the center of attention once again in today’s all-new poster for The LEGO Batman Movie.
Hailing from San Diego Comic-Con, the stark one-sheet features Bruce Wayne ready to don that famous cowl as the World’s Greatest Detective, but could it be teeing up the possibility that Chris McKay’s 2017 animation will offer screentime to Bruce Wayne?
[zerg]After all, throughout The LEGO Movie, Will Arnett’s narcissistic Caped Crusader remain housed up in the Batsuit, although considering that trailers for the movie have showcased Wayne Manor and the Batcave, we’re inclined to believe that Warner Bros.’ offshoot will introduce the human side of Arnett’s hero.
On the other end of the moral spectrum, earlier this week we clocked eyes on Robin and the Joker – Michael Cera and Zach Galifianakis, respectively – and it looks to be that Warner is cooking up a slightly more melodramatic version of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Said McKay:
“The Joker sees himself on the same level as Batman, a peer, at the top of the game. But Batman says that’s not the case, which sends Joker into a spiral trying to prove to Batman that he is indeed the greatest enemy.”
Also starring Ralph Fiennes as Batman’s right-hand man Alfred, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl and, finally, Mariah Carey as the Mayor of Gotham, The LEGO Batman Movie is due to land on February 10, 2017. Warner Bros.’ SDCC panel kicks off tomorrow, July 23, and we’ll be keeping our peepers peeled in anticipation of the new trailer reveal.
